Ace came to MARL with a gunshot wound on his left hind leg. The bullet had gone through his limb completely, and we knew that significant damage had been done. After fast action from our medical team, it was determined that Ace’s best option was amputation and he was scheduled for surgery immediately. Though we only met Ace briefly before he went into surgery, in just that short time, we could tell that Ace was a special dog and we were not going to give up on him.

We are happy to report that Ace’s surgery was a success. It will take several weeks for Ace to fully recover, but during that time our staff and volunteers will give Ace all the TLC he needs to heal. Losing a leg is a big change for Ace, but with his positive attitude and constant smile, we’re confident he will be on the mend in no time.

Each year, MARL is faced with hundreds of animals arriving at our door who require emergency medical expenses. For Ace and animals like him, MARL is often their last hope. Without your support we would not be able to accept dogs like Ace into our care. Though his surgery was costly, knowing that Ace is safe and loved at MARL is priceless.
