Business Cats

smaller bowtie shelter business cat with logo in bow

MARL’s Business Cat program aims to place fully vetted cats who prefer the company of other animals into a safe environment where they can thrive such as a barn or outbuilding. MARL does not put cats who are suitable to be companion animals into this program. Instead, it looks to help those cats who do not do well in the shelter environment because they are independent animals that prefer humans at a distance and do not enjoy being handled.

By adopting a MARL business cat, you are helping save the life of a healthy cat who can then become a successful member of your family or team by helping naturally control pests.

ADOPTION REQUIREMENTS

When adopting a Business Cat, you agree to:

  • Provide consistent access to food, water, and a warm, safe shelter like a barn or shop to protect them from the elements.
  • Be responsible for all future medical care.
  • Be able to allow enough time for the Business cat to acclimate to their new surroundings by setting up a room or space to keep the cat confined for 2-3 weeks with a litterbox and soft places to lie down, hide, and sleep.

BUSINESS CAT DETAILS

  • All Business Cats will be spayed, neutered, and up-to-date on age-appropriate vaccinations at the time of adoption. They will also be ‘ear tipped’, a procedure completed during their spay or neuter surgery to ensure that they are not trapped or brought into other shelters when found outside.
  • The nature of these cat’s behavior makes meet and greets more difficult than the average cat. After an application is submitted, an adoption counselor will contact you to discuss more details about the cat(s) you are interested in and potentially set up a day and time to meet, if possible.
  • Business Cats can be successful in pairs, but it is not required.
