Pawsitively Sure Trial Adoptions

The Pawsitively Sure program allows MARL to place hard-to-adopt animals into a trial adoption with their potential adopters as a foster. While staff members and volunteers can get to know the animals personally, they are often nervous when meeting new people and their true personality isn’t on display during adoption meet and greets. By short-term fostering the animal you may be interested in adopting, you can see exactly how they may fit into your family and lifestyle without the pressure of a formal adoption. With a predetermined amount of time in mind, potential adopters can move forward with an adoption at the end of the program with the confidence that it truly is a perfect match.

At the end of the foster period, if you are not Pawsitively Sure, we take the animal back into our care. Though it may not have been the perfect match, we have gained invaluable information from the potential adopter about how the animal did in the home. This information will help us make a more suitable match in the search for the animal’s forever home.

PROGRAM BENEFITS

By welcoming a dog or cat in the Pawsitively Sure Program into your home, you give them a chance to acclimate to you, your home, and your lifestyle. We understand that sometimes moving forward with an adoption can be a BIG decision and this program is designed to make the transition as easy as possible for you and the animal you are interested in!

PROGRAM REQUIREMENTS

A potential adopter interested in the Pawsitively Sure Trial Adoptions would first have to see if the animal they are interested in qualifies for the program. By clicking on any animal you are interested in, you will find the label ‘pawsitively sure trial adoptions’ underneath the ‘AVAILABLE FOR’ section on their profile page. You would then fill out an adoption application for that animal as the next step in the Pawsitively Sure process.

If you have questions about whether an animal you are interested in qualifies for the program, please call our office during business hours at 248-335-9290.
